Camping Out
So yer keen to camp by the crick?
Many of you prefer to camp rather than stay in a hotel — which is awesome — and we’re happy to open our field to you starting on Friday afternoon. You’re welcome to stay just on Saturday night too, of course (as that’ll be the big shebang). And we’re sure a few stragglers will invariably remain for Sunday night to enjoy the long weekend, but everyone should mosey by Monday morning at the latest. As you arrive, our friends will help with parking and show you where to set up your truck, trailer, or tent in a few designated areas around the Ranch. There’s plenty of space, but plan to make friends with your neighbors. If you’d like to camp next to someone specific, your best bet is to show up together so you can be placed at the same time. We anticipate a decent amount of campers…
Please, be radically self-reliant.
Bring your own food, water, shelter, snacks etc. Our house will be at full capacity preparing for Saturday’s shindig! We’ll have hang zones on the land for everyone to gather and will provide porta potties as well, but otherwise you’re essentially camping in the wilderness. Enjoy the land, and find a friendly tree if you have the urge to wee :]
Please pack-it-in, pack-it-out.
You’re responsible for your own trash. Watch yer butts, be especially fire conscious. And as always, Leave No Trace. Let’s all do our part to take care of this very special place!
Please, leave your pets at home.
The wedding will be plenty exciting without 30-50 feral hounds running loose on the Ranch.
Pretty simple, really!
Since a bunch of you have camped out here any number of times, please be gracious in sharing your resources and reverence with those coming from far and wide.
Things to bring:
Warm clothes, wool socks, boots, gloves, beanies, thermals. It can get pretty cold at night, even in May, be prepared. We’ll know more once the weather forecast comes into view; expect us to send an update. But even so, it’d be smart to bring layers for yourself to stay warm late into the eve.
Bathing suit, towel, flip flops, sunscreen, stunner shades. It can get pretty warm during the day, even in May, be prepared! Hah. We live in a land of microclimates, and ours is especially finicky.
Enough water for the weekend. 1 gallon/person/day is a good rule of thumb. Do not expect to fill up water or shower at the house!
Enough food for the weekend. We’ll feed ya Saturday night, but otherwise please be prepared to make all your own meals (or take the ~15 minute drive to one of our recommendations Around Town).
Camping chairs, camping stove, foldable table, cooler, lanterns. Yer car camping in the wilderness, make it bougie. Take pride in your zone.
Headlamp. Trust us, bring a headlamp. It will be dark as heck (as our wedding is just before the new moon) so if you’re camping a ~5 minute walk away from the party, you’ll want an easy light source other than your phone.
